Mission

Mission: To provide custom carpentry that is affordable and accessible.

Custom carpentry is often thought of as a luxury.  But what it stands for for me is freedom and the ability to create your own environment, to care about how you live!  Many of my customers used to think, "For now, I just need to get the job done.  I'll live the way I really want some other time, when I can afford it."

New Yorkers often feel they can't create a home they're proud of when they're living in an apartment for a brief period of time.  Whatever you put into an apartment you have to take out, and "permanent" furnishings seem like a hassle to install and uninstall.  I will uninstall anything I install (in the East Village) for free and reuse the lumber.

I usually use salvaged lumber from the neighborhood that I'm working in.  Occasionally, I will transport lumber from my workshop to a far-off location, but I try to keep things as local as possible.

Apart from just making furniture, Guerrilla Carpentry is also a de-cluttering, storage-optimization, pseudo-interior design solution.  My designs are geared towards efficient use of space and ergonomic accessibility.  While this is my art, I never put my artistic vision above my clients' needs.

Accessibility is my number one concern.  I'm willing to work with any budget and/or barter agreements.  Anyone who can afford a piece of Ikea furniture or a sofa from Goodwill or an organizing unit from the Container Store can afford Guerrilla Carpentry.
